Ezines and Newsletters, Oh My!

Well, I was doing some more reasearch on advertising an online business and came across a hot topic - Ezines and Newsletters. Quite a few people were discussing these topics in many forums and have stated that this has been the most effective way to advertise - passively of course.

Well, I have created an article, which I am trying to post to ezines at the moment. It's quite difficult to find a list or directory. Tried to "Google" quite a few keywords, but very few searches showed up. It seems like they don't want to be seen - strange!

I think that it's a great form of advertising because you get to write about a topic that you are very comfortable with and give your views and opinions on it. Then others read it and IF they are interested, they just might click on the link of your web site that is stated at the bottom. This method can be a new way of obtaining potential or even current customers for your site.

Newsletters are also great, but I do not really have the time for it at the moment. When you have a nicely built database of customers or even prospects, you should start one up, just so that you can let them know:

  1. You're still alive,
  2. You're site is still up and running (read my article on this part),
  3. And you have some new and fresh ideas on the topic of your site.

Will keep you posted on how things go. I head that press releases are wonderful as well, but those are offline topics (but very effective as well).

Surfing for credits.. no good at all...

I have tried to use traffic surfing sites to get hits for my site for a while now as well as my old business. Does not work at all! I have read reviews from quite a few sites and have experienced the same thing - worthless.

Basically, you surf other people's sites and in turn you earn credits for your site to be shown. The major downfall of this is that you are not really focusing on other people's sites and just there to gain the credits. The same happens when others see your site.

Pay-per-click sites tend to be better, but that obviously involves some capital on your part. Will keep you updated on how things go.

Take care,

Just a thought on handbags...

Do you tend to see people with very expensive bags? And you wonder to your self, are those real or knock-offs? Well, I was wondering that myself.

Buying replica's can become quite scary, since there are a lot of stores online that sell this stuff and tend to go up for a while and then just disappear.

I guess that's why I started my business with bags that are 100% genuine, but not brand name. At reasonable prices, but looks nice as well.

Richard

Start of my new business

Hi everyone,

Ok! Here it goes. I started my business about a week and a half ago by setting up my web site and finding a distributor for products I wanted to sell. Very interesting. Took a while, but finally got it off the ground.

It's amazing of how much time it really takes to start up a business. In the past, I started a Virtual Assistant business, where people would come to you for administrative needs, which they couldn't do themselves, for various reasons - usually being time.

That didn't pan out at all. Just lost money on it. Then I tried eBay, but that took too much time, since I work full-time at another job right now. Made a nice amount of money, but like I said, has to be full-time, all the time. I just felt that it wasn't worth my while.

What I started up right now is much easier. Unfortunately, I can't tell you all the details, but I will give you insight on how things are improving and how the marketing aspect is holding up.

There's a great web site that I visited for information on this topic. Here's the link:

http://www.searchengineforums.com

A great deal of information and you can also get feedback on a various amount of topics relating to starting up your own business.

Well, that's it for today. Will keep writing as I go along!

Take care,

Richard
